# Export an MP4

> Download a guide as an MP4 file with optional burned captions.

Use MP4 export only when a guide needs to live outside Guideless links and embeds, such as in an LMS, presentation, archive, or offline workflow.

## Export a guide

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open Share" icon="share-2">
    Open the guide and click **Share**.

  <Step title="Choose Download" icon="download">
    Select the download or export option.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Choose quality" icon="square-chevron-down">
    Use Draft for quick review, HD for most publishing, or 4K when you need the highest resolution.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Choose captions" icon="captions">
    Decide whether captions should be burned into the video.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Export and download" icon="circle-check">
    Click **Export**. When the file is ready, click **Download**.

## Export options

| Option | Choices |
| - | - |
| Quality | Draft, HD, or 4K |
| Captions | No captions or burned captions |

Burned captions become part of the video and cannot be turned off by the viewer.

## Prefer links or embeds

Use a [share link](/sharing/share-link) or [embed](/sharing/embed) when you can. With links and embeds, edits stay live and [Insights](/analytics/overview) keep tracking.

Use MP4 when the destination requires a static video file.

  Re-export the MP4 after changing the guide. Downloaded files do not update automatically.
